As a Specialist Leg Ulcer Nurse, you cover the county but have an area of focus within West Dorset. You will manage West Dorset staff and clinics, triage patients and undertake leg ulcer assessments for patients in their home, trust sites, care homes and GP practices. You will lead and support project work and shape the future of the service. Ideally you will have experience of working with patients who have leg ulcers and have good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of wound management.

In return we offer a robust induction programme, we promote developing your skill set both clinically and within leadership. We hold regular meetings to facilitate operational management and promote the development of the service in line with National guidance and local vision.

The role is a part-time weekday post of 30 hours, we can be flexible with how these hours are met. We would consider a minimum of 22.5 hours covering a minimum of 3 working days. This role supports a hybrid working model including working from home. A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

You will be self-motivated, committed to delivering best practice and support those who are newly qualified into their role.

· Provide specialist advice to level 2/3 providers, multi-professional staff, patients and carers on all aspects of leg ulcer management.

· As a Specialist Leg Ulcer Nurse, you will work closely with other multidisciplinary professionals where effective communication and self-motivation is essential. You will work independently and committed to delivering best practice in leg ulcer management.

· Demonstrate effective leadership skills and effectively support the level 2/3 leg ulcer service. This will also include supporting a health care support worker and developing bank staff.

· Responsible for the operational day to day management of the level 2 leg ulcer clinics.

· Empower and support patients and their carers in managing their leg ulcers.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
