Summary


As a Healthcare Assistant in Radiology, you will play a crucial role in supporting the radiology team to provide high-quality patient care and maintain the smooth functioning of the department. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients during procedures, preparing examination rooms, and ensuring equipment is properly sterilized and maintained. You will also help with patient data entry and record keeping, as well as providing compassionate and empathetic care to patients. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the radiology team to ensure efficient and effective patient care



1. Carry out direct nursing care to patients attending the department under the supervision of a registered nurse.

2. Prepare patients for all examinations by explaining the dressing/undressing requirements and assisting as necessary, ensuring that the patients’ dignity and privacy is respected at all times.

3. To communicate effectively with patients and clients by listening and reassuring appropriately, and to recognise the need to pass on relevant information to other members of the nursing team.

4. To prepare the workload and work lists for the by giving information to ward staff and patients about the preparation required for the examinations, assessing the patient and ensuring that they are able to attend the department and that the correct mode of transport is available.

5. Give information and advice to patients and clients attending or telephoning the department.

6. Assist in providing emergency and urgent intervention to patients attending the department.

7. Ensure all patient related data is entered onto the computer accurately using keyboard skills.

8. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

9. Help maintain a tidy, clean and safe working environment.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.

1. Communicate incidents/complaints to senior staff members and when appropriate be responsible for the completion of the relevant documentation.

2. Maintain effective communication and dissemination of information verbally and electronically.

3. Promote effective multidisciplinary collaboration and working relationships by communicating interactively with all staff members including radiographers, radiologists, medical teams, nurses and portering staff.

Educational role

1. Attend all mandatory training sessions.

2. Attend any training and update courses that are felt appropriate.

3. Maintain own awareness of Radiation Protection issues and assist in the compliance of other staff.
