Summary
List of Duties:
Assist experienced butchers in the preparation and cutting of various meats, including beef, pork, venison and poultry, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Learn and apply proper sanitation and hygiene practices in the processing area.
Participate in the training and execution of meat, preparation techniques, including deboning, trimming and portioning.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, tools and equipment.
Engage in customer service by providing guidance and product knowledge to customers regarding meat selections.
Support inventory management and stock replenishment as needed.
Training
Twice a month at College and skills officer visits to workplace every 6-8 weeks.
Qualifications required
Ideally Maths and English GCSE 4/C
Skills required
Training will be provided.
Ability to take instruction and have the ability to listen and take on board feedback.
Prospects
We would like to train and then fully employ an apprentice butcher, who hopefully would like work for us for many years to come.
