Our client is looking for a reliable, experienced, and motivated professional to take on the role of Farm Manager at a well-established, family-run organic dairy farm. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual ready to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations in a modern and stable working environment, with a passion for animal welfare, sustainable farming, and a long-term career in the UK agricultural sector.
About the Farm:
• Family-owned and certified organic dairy farm
• 160 Guernsey dairy cows producing high-quality milk
• On-site processing facilities: milk, cream, butter, yogurt, and kefir production
• 200 hectares of land (mainly forage crops)
• 20:20 herringbone milking parlour; transition to two robotic milking units planned for 2025
• Free accommodation in a 3-bedroom house with scenic countryside views
• Suitable for family living – accommodation is family-friendly
• Well-developed infrastructure and amenities nearby, located within easy reach of a major city
Responsibilities:
• Full operational management of the farm
• Supervising a small team (herdsman and tractor operator)
• Planning and execution of forage and field work
• Pasture management and crop rotation planning
• Monitoring herd health and managing reproduction
• Ration formulation and animal feeding
• Operation and maintenance of milking equipment (including robots)
• Oversight of machinery, fencing, tracks, and general farm infrastructure
• Liaison with vets, agronomists, and suppliers
• Handling day-to-day tasks and participating in on-farm work as needed
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a farm manager or herdsman (experience in the UK or EU preferred)
• Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, and breeding
• Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate a team
• Good command of English – required for daily communication with farm owners and advisors
• Experience with robotic milking systems is a plus
• Practical technical and mechanical skills
• Responsible, organized, and self-motivated
• Legal right to work in the UK (visa, residency status, or citizenship required)
• A detailed CV with references is essential
