Summary
The role is a 2 month temporary contract with strong possibility of extension.
Delivery Driver: Purpose and Scope of Role
Primarily the role will involve the delivery of products to distribution outlets & customers across North Wales. The role will involve packing, loading and unloading items onto delivery vehicles, ensuring items are secure and safe before departing.
The role may require the ability to lift heavy products or parcels, and to work at pace whilst maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. The vehicle must also be kept clean and well-maintained and is ready to drive at any given time.
You will need to follow pre-planned routes accurately without deviation from the delivery schedule. However, should this be essential, you will be required to communicate with management and inform of any change of delivery, route or schedule delay from road works, vehicle breakdown, etc.
The role will also involve accurate record keeping pre delivery, during deliveries and cash handling. Therefore, you must ensure that all documentation is completed and submitted to management on site.
Key Tasks – Delivery Driver
- Good face to face customer service – this is a very important part of the role.
- Take responsibility and diligence for the delivery products.
- Ensure all goods are collected and delivered.
- Help organise & order pick items for ‘next day’ deliveries.
- Loading/Un-loading vehicles, which will involve heavy lifting.
- Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles.
- Record keeping and Document competition
- Ensure food handling is correct and complies with both company and food safety & hygiene regulations
- Notify line manager of any concerns, reporting damaged to vehicles and/or faulty equipment.
Essential Person Specification:
- Age 21 Years and over (this is for Insurance purposes).
- Driving License: Full UK, Clean License.
- DBS Cleared for work with Children/Vulnerable Adults. You will be asked to complete a new application.
- Ability to flexible work pattern (e.g. early mornings)
- The ability to work independently, as well as follow instructions.
- The ability to organise and prioritise work activities.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong work ethic & be able to work as part of a team.
- The ability to work at pace across a working day.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or on other premises when required.
It would also be desirable to:
- Experience of delivery of food items
- Experience of order picking, distribution, packaging
- Experience of working in food production, or kitchen environment
