Summary

Occupational Therapist - Barking / Dagenham

APM Ingeus have an exclusive contract with the Department for Work and Pensions to recruit Healthcare Professionals to work in their Health Transformation Programme.

We are seeking passionate and innovative Occupational Therapists to support a newly emerging OT led vocational rehabilitation service based in Dagenham and Barking Jobcentres.

Youll be responsible for managing your own caseload of referrals to support the customers in overcoming barriers they face in work, through a use of therapeutic strategies.

Using standardised Occupational Therapy and Health tools you will empower individuals with health conditions and disabilities to engage in meaningful occupations, adopt strategies and behaviours to overcome negative thoughts and enhance their physical, emotional and social wellbeing moving them closer towards work.

Your role will have a huge impact in helping people live fulfilling lives with the aim that the proactive support will reduce long term unemployment and inactivity.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct suitable assessments to determine customers' vocational abilities and interests
  • Develop individualised vocational rehabilitation plans and monitor / adjust these plans accordingly
  • Facilitate skills training and workshops for customers.
  • Build links with local organisations and collaborate to improve signposting, network and access to services.

To be considered for this role you must be fully registered with the HCPC and have one year post registration experience. In addition, you will require excellent knowledge of physical, cognitive, sensory and mental health conditions and their impact on function, be able to travel to both Barking and Dagenham job centres, and the confidence to work one on one with customers whilst also running group sessions.

In return you will receive the security of a long-term contract (minimum 12 months, likely to extend for a further 3 years), an equivalent salary of £50,634, the autonomy to implement your own ideas and plans and the opportunity to make a real difference to peoples quality of life.
