Summary

ESOL Instructor

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Newcastle College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Instructor in ESOL. You will work with a range of adult ESOL learners across different classrooms including computer labs at Riverside Dene, supporting learners to improve their English skills. You will be actively involved with the students' learning and you will be moving around the rooms in order to monitor, support and mentor our adult learners.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • To instruct, monitor and support adult ESOL learners, using a variety of methods in workshop and computer-based digi-lab sessions
  • To work with the ESOL team to develop learners' English and support continuous improvement activities
  • To work with the ESOL team to develop resources for learners from Pre Entry level to Level 2
  • To contribute to strategies to improve student achievement, attendance and retention.
  • To contribute to the Additional Learning Support process.

The candidate must currently hold a CELTA or have the equivalent Trinity CERT in ESOL.

They must also be confident using computers to support students and have experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft main suite.

An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines and have strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

The hours of work may include evenings. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a well-motivated, cohesive and successful team.

Candidate must be available to work the following hours:

Monday afternoon, Wed morning, Friday morning.
