Long Term Futures are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school based in the heart of Islington. They are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to take on the exciting opportunity of leading a Key Stage 1 and 2 SEN classroom from September. This is a full-time, long-term role, ideally suited to a passionate HLTA with strong subject knowledge, excellent behaviour management, and a desire to support children with additional needs.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will take the lead in a specially resourced SEN classroom catering to 9 pupils, all of whom have EHCPs. These children present with a range of complex needs, including ASD, speech and language challenges, sensory processing difficulties and global developmental delay.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Providing small group instruction and focused 1:1 support where required.
- Using proactive behaviour management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to lesson planning and target setting.
- Supporting pupils' social and emotional development and working collaboratively with therapists and external agencies.

The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a Level 4 HLTA qualification (essential).
- Experience delivering lessons and covering PPA across Key Stage 1 and 2.
- Strong SEN knowledge, particularly in relation to ASD and communication needs.
- Confident communicator with excellent English language skills.
- Committed to inclusive education and improving outcomes for all children.
