Summary

It has a strong culture of research and hosts the Memory Assessment Research Centre (MARC).
The successful candidate would be recognised as an emerging leader in their field. They would undertake clinical and basic research in psychiatry, aligned with the research strategy of the Faculty, School and Trust, teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and undertake leadership, management and engagement activities across the two organisations. They would be able to make strategic judgements and contribute to the external profile of both the University and the Trust. The successful candidate will hold a primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC or equivalent organisation, have MRCPsych or an equivalent recognised qualification, a certificate of completed specialist training (or equivalent) in psychiatry of older age, and a PhD or DM or equivalent relevant higher degree.
The University Department of Psychiatry pursues research in affective disorders, alcohol use disorders, behavioural addictions, dementia, psychopharmacology, neuroimaging and psychoneuroimmunology. There are vibrant partnerships with the School of Psychology on the Highfield Campus. There is an Academy of Research & Improvement at the Trust, within which sits the MARC. The Academy drives a culture of research and innovation, supporting professional development and growth of a locally relevant evidence base for community based care.
