Summary
To safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people by providing high-quality social work interventions within the Family Support & Safeguarding Service. The post holder will carry out assessments, develop care plans, and implement support strategies that focus on prevention, protection, and long-term positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Planning:
Undertake timely and comprehensive assessments under statutory frameworks (Children Act 1989/2004).
Develop and implement Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans in collaboration with families and partner agencies.
Safeguarding:
Manage a caseload of children requiring safeguarding intervention, including Section 47 investigations.
Ensure that the voice of the child is central to all decision-making and planning.
Initiate and participate in legal proceedings, including preparing statements and attending court.
Multi-agency Working:
Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and other professionals to deliver integrated support.
Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, Looked After Reviews, and other statutory meetings.
Direct Work:
Build effective relationships with children and families to facilitate change and improve outcomes.
Use evidence-based interventions to support families in crisis and reduce risk.
Recording & Compliance:
Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and high-quality case records using the appropriate case management system.
Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and local procedures.
Continuous Improvement:
Take part in supervision, training, and development activities to enhance practice.
Contribute to team learning and reflective practice sessions.
