Role Outline

Are you a recent graduate, returning to work after a career break, or looking to pivot into a new career in tech and product management? This entry-level Junior Product Owner role, known internally as Associate Product Owner role, is designed to support individuals from diverse backgrounds as they begin their journey into product ownership.

You'll join a structured development programme that combines hands-on experience, formal training, and mentorship. Over two years, you'll build the skills and confidence to lead product activities and contribute to the delivery of impactful software solutions in the health and social care sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply agile and SAFe principles to support product development.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineering, and UX/UI teams to understand customer needs and translate them into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Assist in managing and refining the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business and customer value.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to the creation of product documentation, release notes, and go-to-market materials.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and support product demonstrations.
  • Take increasing ownership of product activities, from requirement gathering to delivery tracking.
  • Apply data and feedback to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Develop leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Exposure to agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, SAFe).
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Aha!
  • Experience in customer-facing, analytical, or project-based roles.
  • Interest in healthcare, social care, or public sector technology.

Development & Progression This role includes a comprehensive onboarding and development plan, with training modules, workshops, and mentorship designed to support your growth into a fully autonomous Product Owner. Performance will be measured through KPIs related to knowledge acquisition, skill development, leadership, and innovation.

We will be holding an assessment day for this role on the 5th August in our Leeds office.
