Purpose

The Reviewer is to review learning and assessment materials to ensure they are technically correct and align with given specification content and assessment requirements. We are looking for innovative reviewers with fresh ideas that motivate our learners and set them on the path to success. Core Services and Expectations

When carrying out your role, please be mindful that you represent Pearson and that you should always maintain your professional integrity. Therefore, it is essential that you:
  • You would be expected to review the units assigned to you.
  • You may also be expected to technically edit / review units within your chosen sector/subject area.
  • Act at all times in a way which will not bring Pearson, its employees, and its representatives into disrepute.
  • Read all Pearson policies and guidance prior to undertaking contracted activities.
  • Respect the confidentiality of centres and learners.
  • Attend any and all meetings or training sessions provided, relevant to your role, where requested by Pearson.
  • Adhere to deadlines given by Pearson and ensure that all work is carried out to the best of an individual's ability.
  • Remain respectful and advocate for others to ensure and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional manner when carrying out services on behalf of Pearson.
  • Have personal IT equipment capable of running Pearson software, relevant malware, appropriate virus protection software, a suitable internet connection, and a personal, secure email account.
  • Communicate with Pearson and its centres in a timely manner when carrying out all designated responsibilities.
  • Raise any concerns if you suspect or are made aware of any malpractice, maladministration, and/or safeguarding issues.

Role Specific Services and Expectations (Essential)

As well as Pearson's core services expectations, there are also role-specific services and expectations that you must consider and be able to provide. These include:
  • Must have an understanding and experience of working within a vocational sector and/or have taught this subject to learners aged 14-19.
  • Must have a good understanding of vocational qualifications in the sector
  • Ensuring learning and assessment materials comply with the Global Content Policy, fully support accessibility, diversity, equality, and inclusion, and sensitivity guidelines.
  • Ensuring all applicable learning and assessment materials produced are of high quality and show sufficient coverage of the topics and assessment criteria as set out in the applicable guidelines.
  • Ensuring all materials are appropriate to the specific range of ability and will result in good discrimination and differentiation at all levels.
  • Advising on subject specialist matters throughout the production process and providing feedback where necessary.
  • Adhering to the production schedules and turnaround requests, keeping Pearson informed of your availability which could affect deadlines.
  • Reviewing, reporting, and clearly marking up comments and producing revised learning and assessment materials, as and when required, throughout the production process.
  • Providing feedback on drafts at each stage and attending online sign-off meeting(s) where required.
  • Ensuring all associated materials are updated throughout the production process

Desirable
  • You have reviewed educational materials and are adept at summarising materials and creating educational materials
  • Industry experience not required but preferred
  • This is a position for a current development. You must be able to review at Level 2 and Level 3 vocational standard

Experience and Qualifications required:

Experience:

As a representative of the company, you will be expected to have experience in, or be able to demonstrate the ability of the following:
  • Have recent relevant teaching experience
  • Have a relevant teaching qualification
  • Have been educated to a level 4 standard with relevant qualifications
  • Have good written communication skills particularly in your sector/subject area of choice
  • Confident use of IT
  • Have the ability to pick up new skills quickly and apply them (reviewing of assessment criteria)
  • Have the ability to follow a brief
  • Be able to review author's work clearly and concisely
  • Have an ability to work to tight deadlines

Vocational Qualifications (e.g., BTEC/FS)
  • A minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience in the relevant subject area/sector within the last 8 years and/or extensive knowledge and experience in Pearson assessment, quality, and processes and national standards within the last 5 years.
  • A UK recognised teaching qualification.

There is a reviewing task to be completed as part of the application for this role. Additionally, this is an occasional working role, tied to discrete contracts of work and a specific qualification development project.
