Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Cranleigh, Surrey

This School, located in the beautiful countryside of Cranleigh, is a specialist day and residential school for students aged 7-19 with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech, language, and communication needs, and other associated learning challenges. Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students in both classroom and one-to-one settings, ensuring they receive the tailored education and care they need. You will play an integral role in fostering a positive learning atmosphere, helping students develop their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Support students in achieving individual learning goals outlined in their EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans)
- Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
- Assist in maintaining accurate student records and reports
- Participate in extracurricular activities, trips, and other school events
- Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the school community
- Previous experience working in a special education or SEN setting is desirable but not essential
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are an advantage
