Are you passionate about libraries, learning, and community engagement? Live Life Aberdeenshire is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Cultural Services team as Area Librarian for North Aberdeenshire. This role completes our team of four Area Librarians working together to deliver high-quality library services across the authority.

As Area Librarian, you will play a key role in shaping and supporting the delivery of library and cultural services in your area. You will have line management responsibility and lead a dedicated team of staff, including Senior Library Administrators and School Librarians while working collaboratively with colleagues across Aberdeenshire to ensure our services are inclusive, innovative, and responsive to community needs.

What you will do -

  • Manage and support library team helping them deliver excellent library services and learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate and contribute to a wide range of programmes and outreach activities that promote lifelong learning with the aim of increasing service reach and participation.
  • Work closely with schools, local organisations, and community partners to ensure services are accessible and relevant in co-located spaces
  • Collaborate with Area & Support Librarians and the wider Cultural Services team to share ideas, develop best practices, and support service-wide initiatives.

You will report directly to the Library Development Coordinator and play a vital part in delivering our vision for modern, accessible, and inspiring library services.

Location: This is a flexible post with the option to work from home when required, however, there is an expectation that the post holder will travel to library venues within Aberdeenshire The working week is Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working if required. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service, the Organisation and the residents of Aberdeenshire. Responsibilities

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
