Summary


The Neurology/ Specialist Nurse Team has a new exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Epilepsy. This role would be suitable for a candidate who has an interest or some experience in neurology, with relevant knowledge of Epilepsy and who is keen to develop skills in this area.

The successful candidate will work under supervision of the current Advanced Epilepsy Nurse Specialist and Consultant Neurologists. The aim will be to enable them to develop their competencies in this highly specialist role.

They would be expected to complete the Epilepsy Care Degree, attend relevant study days as well as online learning.

The role will consist of working within the Neurology/Epilepsy team, with clinics based at York Teaching Hospital but work across site in Scarborough and Selby. The post holder will work closely with the nursing and medical teams.

Main Duties include:

• Responsibility for the management of a defined caseload.

• Continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans of care and the setting of standards of care.

• Provision of specialised treatment plans for patients

• Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialty service.

• The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

• If working as a non-medical prescriber to also initiate and prescribe treatment and evaluate its clinical effectiveness.
