Join Our Team as an Experienced Support Worker
- £13.54 per hour
- Edgware, London.
- Full-time and part-time roles available
- Day shifts and waking night contracts offered.
We offer a range of shift patterns, including: 7:00am - 2:30pm, 2:15pm - 9:45pm, and 9:45pm - 7:15am.
About the role:
We're looking for experienced support workers to join us at Dimensions, working in a specialist supported living home supporting a young woman in her early 30s. This is a 2:1, single-person home that needs experienced, emotionally resilient staff who understand complex behaviours and are passionate about building trusting and relationships.
The person we support has a learning disability, Smith-Magenis Syndrome, autism, ADHD, and PTSD. There are complex behaviours of distress which can often be linked to feeling unheard, unsafe, or rejected. Her needs are not about physical support, they're about helping her feel safe, heard, and valued. Much of your role will centre around emotional regulation, positive engagement, and helping her feel understood.
She's bright, funny, and knows what she likes. Most of your time will be spent helping her feel supported through day-to-day life. That might mean cooking meals together, supporting her to manage personal care or supporting her to go to the social groups she enjoys.
You'll have full training and support from our in-house positive behavioural support team. The home has a well-developed PBS plan that helps staff understand and work through situations with confidence. Our manager will support you directly during your induction, and you'll work alongside experienced colleagues while you settle in.
This isn't just a job, you must take time, patience, consistency, and the ability to work through difficult moments without giving up on someone. With the right team in place, she thrives on humour and shared interests. She loves Barbie, Only Fools and Horses, being around animals, social groups, and clubs, and getting out into the community.
The shifts are 24-hour cover, a mix of early shifts (7am to 2:30pm), lates (2:15pm to 9:45/10pm), nights (9:45pm-7:15am), and occasional long days. Ideally with alternate weekend cover (though more frequent weekends might be needed initially while we build the team).
