Summary
Job Summary / Overall Purpose The overarching purpose of this role is to transform, improve, and positively influence the experience of dying, death, and loss through education and learning. This is achieved by: Jointly lead and be responsible for managing and coordinating the work of a designated education and facilitation team to support the delivery of EOLPs strategic goals and outcome measures. Through education, innovation and collaboration, champion partner engagement approaches that positively impact the delivery of high-quality palliative and end-of-life care Jointly leadthe design, delivery, application, and evaluation of a diverse range of blended and tailored learning and educational opportunities that reflect the needs of stakeholders involved in palliative and end-of-life care. Lead, negotiate, and monitor education team performance against partner contracts and commissioned work Promote and support the use of digital technology to enhance learning opportunities and experiences, ensuring the accessibility of EOLP education for a diverse range of learners Analyse and facilitate a system-wide response to emerging palliative and end of life care learning and development issues. Leadership and Coordination Contribute to EOLPs strategic development, providing steer and direction concerning education, learning, and development Represent EOLPs education offer and educational standards at regional, and national levels, building influence and collaboration. Act as a central link between education, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring smooth communication and aligned action. Coordinate joint planning, delivery, and review of partnership-led education initiatives. Monitor educational quality and performance outcomes, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Support team cohesion and productivity, helping resolve challenges and fostering a supportive learning culture. Contribute to and critically appraise policy and operational practice internally and externally through active collaboration and influencing to enhance professional development and education. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Escalate identified risks and barriers promptly, exploring and offering mitigations and solutions accordingly Chair and lead partnership, programme, and project meetings related to education and professional development Ensure educational activities align with national and regional policy and guidelines. Coordinate co-produced educational programmes that reflect the needs and strengths of multiple partners. Deputise for the Director or Partnerships and Professional Development as appropriate. Provide cover for the Education Lead for Professional Development and Quality Team Leadership and Management: Promote ongoing professional development and skills growth within the education team Coach and mentor education team members to empower team members in their professional growth and performance Ensure team members have regular appraisals in line with organisational policy to support them in achieving agreed outcomes and their potential. Identify and manage development needs and performance issues within your team, in line with individual and team work plans and the appraisal process Promote the continuing development and professional skills of the team Allocate and supervise tasks within the education team to ensure workload is managed effectively Motivate team members so that they meet deadlines, work productively, and resolve any work issues effectively. Provide a dynamic link between the Education Lead for Professional Development and Quality, your team, other teams within EOLP, and the Leadership Management Team (LMT), disseminating information in a timely manner In conjunction with your line manager and the Education Lead for Professional Development and Quality, prioritise, delegate, supervise, and monitor individual workloads, matching the best-suited team member to tasks and projects Coordinate, develop, and lead programme/project team meetings when appropriate. Palliative and End of Life Care Expertise and Best Practice: Lead and advise on educational strategies that enable staff to deliver excellence in palliative and end-of-life care, influencing and facilitating the development of best practice in education across a broad spectrum of community and care settings. Analyse and facilitate a system-wide response to emerging palliative and end of life care learning and development needs. Embed a culture of learning and improvement that enhances the quality of palliative and end-of-life experiences Liaise and work collaboratively with other palliative care providers in the development of palliative care education programmes. Utilise and develop the skills of external partners who have an interest and commitment to teaching others. Facilitate and encourage lifelong learning, respecting and valuing the uniqueness of individuals and their learning styles. Professional Development and Quality Initiate, design, monitor, and coordinate projects, education, and programmes of work Ensure quality assurance processes are embedded in programme design and delivery. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure learning aligns with care standards and clinical quality indicators. Promote reflective practice and learning across all roles and care settings Contribute to internal and external audits of education and quality practices Support data gathering and insight-sharing to inform continuous improvement Design and deliver structured professional development pathways for individuals at all levels of care delivery. Partner Engagement and Collaboration Foster the development and maintenance of collaborative partnerships in education aligned with EOLPs strategic goals. Proactively identify and cultivate partnerships that advance the quality and reach of end-of-life education. Build strong working relationships with partner organisations, fostering a culture of co-design, shared learning, and innovation. Deliver a coordinated and impactful approach to learning and development across geographic and organisational boundaries. Promote best practice in palliative and end-of-life care through partner engagement and cross-sector collaboration. Embed stakeholder content into education programmes to ensure relevance and impact Contribute to the achievement of organisational goals and impact through effective partnership-led education. Act as a lead contact, advisor, and developer for EOLP educational partnerships Demonstrate a flexibility to work across different geographical areas in response to commissioned work and the needs of EOLPs stakeholders Lead external engagement activities to gather insights that inform education strategy. Serve as an ambassador for EOLP's collaborative values and education initiatives. Financial Management: Support the Director of Partnerships and Organisational Development in setting, managing, and monitoring the budget for your areas of responsibility. Ensure the effective and efficient management of physical and electronic resources, actively promoting and demonstrating cost-consciousness in your team. Support the allocation, management, and monitoring of areas of work to maximise cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity. Ensure costings are accurate and underpinned by sound business principles as agreed with your line manager. Support and actively seek to identify and secure sources of funding, within agreed targets, to support projects and running costs of EOLP in order to achieve its outcomes. Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for joint working with colleagues and stakeholder to promote learning, models of best practice and education, knowledge transfer, and innovation. Foster the development and use of IT systems and digital skills to promote effective learning, coordination, and the dissemination of good practice. Identify innovative approaches in response to the changing needs of practice and stakeholders Critically evaluate, analyse, and apply knowledge of local and national policy to EOLP and your work projects, suggesting and implementing changes with agreement of your line manager. Disseminate, share, and publish evidence of impact, learning, and models of good practice and education. Identify and utilise innovative approaches to palliative care education. General Responsibilities and Compliance: Contribute to and support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols as appropriate.
