Summary


Hours per week

Hours variable. Minimum guaranteed hours of 9.5 with additional hours available.
Evening work also available for 1 hour

Personal Assistant Job Purpose
---------------------------------------
To assist a young adult with physical disabilities and mental health conditions, within their own home and in the community, with activities of daily living.

Personal Care Assistant Job Duties Include:
* Handling household tasks such as: laundry, dishes, changing sheets, hoovering etc
* Providing transportation, using clients own vehicle, to appointments and accessing the community
* Food/Household shopping for client
* Meal planning and meal preparation
* Assisting with administration and organisational tasks such as: making phone calls, managing appointments, filling in forms
* Liaising with health and social care professionals where needed
* Providing support and encouragement.
* Assisting with some limited personal care
* Following medical emergency and care procedures in cases of emergency
* Managing medication
* Walking assistance dog when nessecary

Requirements and qualifications
------------------------------------
Must hold a valid driving license, ideally a UK license, and be confident in driving an automatic car.

The right to work in the UK

Have good communication and interpersonal skills
Applicants must be compassionate, friendly, encouraging and engaging

Applications must be self-motivated, be able to multitask, and be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and perform tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

All applicants must be aware that service user has a licensed and registered assistance dog (under Canine Partners for independence and Assistance Dogs UK) and must be comfortable to work around dogs

Applicants must be over the age of 21

Applicants will ideally have previous experience in a health, social care or mental health role. However, applicants without previous experience will still be considered.

A recent and valid DBS check- this can be arranged, for free through the employer, if applicant does not have a current DBS check and is offered the job role.

Applicants will ideally be first- aid trained.

Applicants must be aware that some shifts may occasionally vary. This will always be discussed with the applicant first and they will be given fair notice of suggested shift time changes. Instances where this may occur are, for example, if a hospital appointment falls outside of working times.

Applicants will be asked for 2 references. At least one of these must be a professional/previous place of work reference.


HEALTH PRECAUTIONS.
---------------------------------
Must be fully vaccinated for Covid 19.
Ideally also have an annual flu vaccine (which can be provided free of charge under the job role.)
PPE will be available when/where needed (e.g for personal care or where the applicant is able to work but has a cough/cold.)
The above health precautions are due to the service user having a lowered immune system.
