Job Introduction

As a Security Officer at IBF Sevington, Ashford, Kent.

You will play a critical role in maintaining a secure, safe, and positive environment for all employees, visitors, and clients. This position requires a dependable individual who can remain alert, enforce site protocols, and respond effectively to various situations. You’ll be a visible presence on site, combining vigilance with excellent customer service to support Sodexo’s commitment to operational excellence and safety.

  • Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous and helpful at all times whilst carrying out duties of he highest level.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, ensuring customers are consistently informed throughout the process.
  • Provide assistant to clients, contractors and visitors ensuring all site procedures and polices are adhered too.
  • To liaise closely with statutory authorities, dealing with incidents and providing information to support.
  • Continuous monitoring of site radio systems adhering to the correct procedures.
  • Maintaining site records such as reference materials, incident forms and site occurrence book.
  • To develop excellent working relationships with our on site client.

What You Will Bring:

Key Responsibilities and requirements:

  • Champion safety through regular site patrols, team engagement, and incident reporting.

  • Lead and support the on-site security team, ensuring alignment with SOPs and contractual standards.

  • Manage shift operations, cover arrangements, and effective handovers.

  • Respond to incidents, providing tactical support until emergency services arrive.

  • Support Facilities Management and coordinate with contractors as needed.

  • Act as the primary contact for customers and staff, resolving issues with professionalism.

  • Oversee workforce scheduling (Kronos), performance management, and staff development.

  • Step up as Site Operations Lead (SOL) when required.

  • Foster a strong team culture aligned with Sodexo’s values and Code of Conduct.

  • Valid SIA Guarding and CCTV licences.

  • Proven experience managing and leading security teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Able to work confidently on own initiative and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Ability to perform manual handling duties safely, in line with relevant training and operational requirements.
  • Good numeracy skills and proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and tasks, including unsociable hours as required
  • DESIRABLE:.
    • Level 3 Team Leader qualification or equivalent.
    • Security First Line Manager Apprenticeship or similar formal management training.
    • Experience working within or alongside a facilities management organisation.
    • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practices relevant to security operations.
    • Experience in delivering training or coaching to team members.
