The successful candidate for this position should possess sufficient years of respiratory experience.

The role entails participation in two EBUS lists per week, with an expected annual procedural volume exceeding 120 EBUS procedures, taking into account leave and service commitments. This position is ideally suited for a senior respiratory specialty trainee (SpR) seeking to gain proficiency in EBUS, or an experienced practitioner aiming to further develop and consolidate their technique.

Additional responsibilities include participation in weekly lung cancer clinic, a 1 in 6 ward week rota, attendance at the weekly lung cancer MDT meeting and contribution to general respiratory clinic

The EBUS service at the Trust encompasses both endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), offering a comprehensive exposure to thoracic diagnostic pathways within a high-performing multidisciplinary team environment..

The post-holder will work closely with a team of consultants, specialist nurses, and physiologists to deliver high-quality care in outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, and specialist cancer services. There will be opportunities to develop expertise in severe asthma pathways, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and participate in clinical research. The successful candidate will also engage in medical education, training junior doctors, and attending weekly departmental teaching sessions.

This position is ideal for individuals considering a career in respiratory medicine and offers structured learning, mentorship, and the potential to contribute to national asthma guidelines and audits.

The positions below involve commitments to the respiratory ward (approximately one week in six), as well as to general respiratory clinics and the respiratory out-of-hours rota.

An educational supervisor will be assigned to support all postholders. These roles are appropriate for trainees at the junior Specialty Registrar (SpR) level or for more senior trainees seeking subspecialty experience prior to applying for consultant posts.

The positions are also suitable for applicants participating in the MTI scheme and for senior trainees with two years of respiratory experience aiming to develop their subspecialty portfolio before applying for a consultant role.
