Summary

The Estates & Campus Management Department plays in pivotal role supporting University business which is key to delivering an inspiring and safe educational space. Our work is fundamental in ensuring that the student experience is at the heart of what we do, is modern, efficient and facilitates the best possible outcomes for all our diverse student groups.
The Estates & Campus Management Department is seeking to appoint a Building services technician to fulfil an integral role within its busy Team which supports service delivery both in the Department and across the wider University.
This is an exciting time to join us as we transform our services to deliver a pivotal professional service supporting the maintenance and development of the University estate.

Position Overview:
The Building services technician will perform a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks across university buildings and grounds. From classrooms and accomodation to offices and labs, you'll help keep our campus running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform general repairs in carpentry, plumbing, plastering, furniture and lock repairs plus various other tasks from the estates helpdesk

Respond to maintenance requests from faculty, staff, and students via our helpdesk system

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance

Ensure all work complies with safety standards and university policies

Assist the building services team with campus events, Room setup's, Furniture moves and emergency response tasks

Requirements:

Proven experience in trade background (3+ years preferred)

Solid knowledge of tools, materials, and safety procedures

Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and work orders

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

A recognised trade qualification

Computer literate
