An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist post (1.0WTE 1 year fixed term) In Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS Neurodevelopmental and Learning Disability Team (NDLD)) to join our friendly, supportive, and experienced multi-disciplinary specialist mental health team.
H&F CAMHS is a high performing service in terms of its productivity and has excellent service user/carer feedback. Waiting times and vacancies are lower than comparable services. The CAMHS service line as a whole has a strong ethos of service user involvement and innovation.
The post is based at 48 Glenthorne Road, Hammersmith W6 0LS which is readily accessed by public transport and is close to the local high street with shops and amenities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, keen and skilled psychiatrist who can provide team leadership and together with the other Consultants and leads in the service provide a comprehensive specialist CAMH service in the borough.
The role itself will involve providing clinical leadership to the NDLD team as well as direct medical/psychiatric input to a proportion of cases, clinical supervision of trainee psychiatrists, management of resources and team budget.
The post holder will share with their Consultant colleagues and professional leads, responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive and effective general child and adolescent mental health service in line with service and contractual requirements.
Within the NDLD Team, the post-holder will assist with the delivery of a comprehensive range of assessments, therapeutic interventions, training and consultation with the multi-disciplinary team. They will share responsibility for allocated cases and other clinical leadership duties for the team. The post-holder will be expected to provide both urgent and non-urgent psychiatric outpatient assessment, treatment and psychological interventions to cases under their direct care. The post-holder will be directly clinically involved with a proportion of open cases in line with the job planning agreement. They will access inpatient and tertiary mental health resources as clinically appropriate. The post holder will be part of the service duty consultant rota prorate during working hours and will join the WLT CAMHS Consultant on Call rota out of hours (approximately 1:10).
The post-holder will be expected to supervise medical staff and ensure familiarity with the progress of their cases being assessed and treated. They will ensure further development of clinical protocols and standards of clinical excellence. High quality communication with referrers will be required.
