Summary
We are about to open a newly refurbished office in the centre of Canterbury and need a Facilities Assistant to join our team
In the role you will be part of a small team responsible for keeping our corporate buildings across the Canterbury district comfortable and secure making a real difference to those who use them
You’ll work a shift pattern to cover opening and closing of the offices

About this job:
This role will be working
Here’s what you’ll get up to:
You’ll make sure the building is opened, closed and secure at the required times
You‘ll provide an out of hours keyholding service for some of our corporate buildings
You’ll be supporting everyday care and maintenance of corporate buildings, including checking outside spaces, checking compliance and carrying out any minor repairs
You’ll be providing a porterage service to distribute equipment, mail and other items
You’ll assist with setting up meeting rooms to ensure that they are clean, tidy and ready for use and that audio visual equipment is in good working order
Working pattern:
Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays with a requirement to be available for out of hours keyholding call outs
This is a full time role working 37 hours per week

About you, the ideal candidate for the job:
Your knowledge
Understanding of Health and Safety and relevant building legislation
Up to date knowledge of safe working and manual handling practises
Awareness of security issues around opening and closing public buildings particularly during early morning/evening times
Knowledge of security systems
Driving routes in the Canterbury district
Experience
Working as part of a team in a similar environment
Opening and closing buildings and ensuring they are secure
Operating security systems
Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs both inside and outside buildings in an office and public environment
Skills
Able to plan own workload and work on own initiative including prioritising urgent requests
Understanding when to escalate issues
Basic DIY skills
Able to carry heavy items and move furniture safely
Able to communicate with a range of building users from members, tenants, the public and staff at all levels
Current full driving license
Basic PC skills
Your qualifications
Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
