Summary

As Electromagnetic (EM) Spectrum Manager, you’ll be part of a team responsible for providing spectrum management advice and guidance to project teams and of the project procurement lifecycle, including advice on interference resolution to military operations, exercises, and technical trials of Spectrum Dependent Systems (SDS) in the UK.

You’ll need to develop technical knowledge of military SDS, including communications and non-communications equipment and an understanding of the structure of the Battle-space Spectrum Management (BSM) at NATO and Combined, National, Joint and Single service levels.

You’ll provide reach-back support to UK based events, such as operations, exercises and ship port visits and on occasion, you’ll be required to provide out of hours support.

Responsibilities:

Be the Defence Electromagnetic Authority (DEMA) EM management lead on projects, as tasked.




Process frequency clearance requests to meet customer demand, to ensure they’re adequate and appropriate to use the EM Spectrum (EMS).




Support Interference investigations as appropriate, assisting to resolve interference reports and working with the wider DEMA team.




Be innovative around working practices and proactively explore alternative methods of delivering Spectrum solutions.




Support all the wider Spectrum Team disciplines, such as EM Pulse Protection (EMPP), EM Compatibility, EM Interference, as required.




Support development in use of the EMS, including but not limited to, supporting development of a recognised EM common operating picture.




Take on responsibilities of the Lead Spectrum Manager, when required, for the duration of specific tasks.
