We are seeking a reliable and experienced Caretaker to join our team at Fetcham Village Infant School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the school premises to ensure they are clean, secure, safe and well maintained. This is a vital role that requires someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for our children, staff and visitors.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience in premises management, maintenance or a similar role
Be reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently
Have strong practical skills and basic handyman abilities
Be willing to be on-call for emergency situations outside normal hours
Have excellent attention to detail and high standards
Be physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks
Have good communication skills and be able to liaise with contractors and visitors
Key responsibilities include:
Security: Opening and closing the school, managing alarm systems, and being the main key holder for emergency callouts (callout fee paid)
Cleaning: Spot cleaning, maintaining toilets, cleaning glass and windows, and general tidying
Maintenance: Minor repairs, monitoring heating and lighting systems, PAT testing, and Legionella monitoring (training provided)
General duties: Grounds maintenance, refuse management, health and safety checks, and supporting school functions
