Summary
Hours: 35 per week, term time only plus INSET daysWe have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and innovative Technology Technician to join us at Islwyn High School. This role will support subjects areas including Product Design, Construction, Food and Art.The post-holder will play an important role in supporting the teaching and learning within the school and should be an organised, enthusiastic and proactive individual.
You would be working in our busy, successful department preparing materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons for all. You will provide technical support, including Health & Safety guidance, to pupils and teachers, assist in practical classes, carry out demonstrations and maintain and organise the equipment and rooms within the department. We are looking for someone who takes pride in ensuring Technology facilities are maintained to a high standard.
A working knowledge of Technology equipment or a practical workshop environment is helpful and experience of working in a secondary school is desirable but not essential. Any relevant training will be given. The postholder will work within a team of technicians so knowledge and skills transferrable across different subject areas would be welcome.
This is an interesting role that may suit someone looking for a term time only role with flexible working hours. The school was purpose built in 2017 comprising a single three storey building. It’s modern design includes state of the art facilities for subjects such as Science and Technology, a full size sports hall, performance hall and music suite, as well as a floodlit 4G sports pitch and fitness suite. IT and audio visual facilities available in all classrooms reflect significant investment in the teaching and learning environment for our pupils.
