Grounds Maintenance Burial Operative - PKC12810

As part of a team, you will perform burials and maintenance tasks throughout the Perth area. Work as a member of a burials team. Your duties will directly involve all aspects of burial duties.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to competently operate and maintain vehicles, plant and machinery associated within the burials.

You must be a team player who understands the importance of good morale and proactively pursues good professional relationships with colleagues, clients, Funeral Directors, and members of the public.

To receive burial instructions and to efficiently organise and complete burial work instructions, ensuring that all burial functions are carried out to a high quality, to IBCA standards and on time.

To undertake scatterings and interments of ashes on a routine basis.

To undertake lair excavation, backfilling, funeral attendance, and any other routine squad task.

To ensure that all works are performed in compliance with appropriate risk assessments and health and safety requirements

You must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post.

You must be able to do any paperwork associated with the post e.g., timesheets, work schedules, maintenance records etc. Knowledge of computers/smartphones would also be beneficial.

The Environment Service operates new ways of working, which is a variable shift system

Skills & Experience Required

To be successful, you must hold a current C1 + E Licence, CPC Card and a Digital Tachograph Card.

You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, you will be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and as a representative of the Council, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues.

You will bring a positive energy; have the ability to work well as part of a team. You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, you will have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, you will have the ability to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle and plant are safe to drive and meets all legal requirements. You will have the ability to operate and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.
