Summary

Assistant Security Manager

Location: Wickford Head Office
Reporting to: Senior Security Manager
Working Hours: 09:00 to 19:00, 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (including weekends and bank holidays)
Contracted Hours: averaging 31.1 hours per week, with plenty of overtime available

About the Role

VIP Security (Essex) Ltd is seeking a professional and experienced SIA-licensed Assistant Security Manager to support our operations leadership team. This key role involves overseeing frontline staff, coordinating shift schedules, and ensuring high standards of service delivery across all contracts. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, administrative competence, and the ability to deliver consistent results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation of structured operational procedures to ensure high-quality, client-focused service
Manage staff rotas and shift scheduling across multiple sites to ensure consistent operational coverage
Oversee administrative tasks including uniform distribution, equipment tracking, and compliance documentation
Conduct site visits and complete inspection reports to ensure contract standards are maintained
Act as the point of contact for all company personnel outside of office hours on working days, holding the emergency on-call phone as required
Identify and report any disciplinary or grievance issues to the HR/Recruitment Manager at the earliest stage
Promote staff engagement and retention through effective communication, support, and professional development
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures
Monitor staffing levels and skills, ensuring training needs are identified and addressed
Remain informed on industry developments, legislative changes, and best practices, and implement improvements where appropriate

Required Skills and Experience

Active Front line SIA Door Supervisor licence (As a minimum)
Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within the security industry or similar
Strong administrative skills, with proven experience in shift scheduling and workforce coordination
Good understanding of legal guidelines for security and public safety
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
High attention to detail and the ability to manage time and tasks effectively
Full UK driving licence
