Summary
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage complex development and regeneration projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. The Senior Development Manager plays a strategic role in managing a portfolio of development schemes, securing land, funding, and planning approvals while working with key stakeholders to support the organisation’s growth and housing delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end delivery of large-scale residential and mixed-use development projects, including feasibility, land acquisition, planning, procurement, and construction phases.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal colleagues, consultants, contractors, and partners.
Oversee project governance, ensuring milestones, budgets, and programme objectives are met.
Prepare and present business cases, board reports, and financial appraisals to secure internal and external approvals.
Negotiate development agreements, land deals, and partnership contracts with legal and commercial acumen.
Monitor and report on risk, performance, budgets, and KPIs across development projects.
Ensure compliance with planning policy, building regulations, sustainability goals, and funding conditions (e.g., Homes England, GLA).
Engage with stakeholders including local authorities, residents, housing associations, and commercial partners.
Contribute to long-term development strategy, pipeline planning, and land acquisition opportunities.
Act as a senior advisor and mentor to junior staff, promoting best practices in project and stakeholder management.
