About the Role
As a Sport & Activities Assistant, you’ll deliver a variety of engaging sports, games, and creative activities before and after school. You’ll support each child’s development and well-being within a dynamic wrap-around care setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and brings energy, creativity, and a passion for physical activity.
Key Responsibilities
• Activity Delivery: Plan and deliver inclusive, high-energy sports and games that promote physical activity and engagement.
• Childcare & Supervision: Ensure the safety and welfare of children, including school collection and safe handover to parents or carers.
• Support the preparation and serving of nutritious snacks, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
• Environment Setup: Prepare and organise equipment and play spaces to ensure a welcoming, stimulating environment.
• Health & Safety: Promote and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety; administer first aid as required.
• Child Engagement: Involve children in shaping the activity programme to reflect their interests and ideas.
• Club Administration: Support administrative tasks and build positive relationships with families and schools.
• Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues and venue lead to deliver high-quality care.
• Positive Behaviour Management: Uphold and model club policies to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive setting.
Working Hours & Pay
Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
- Before School: Approx. 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- After School: Approx. 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Total: Approx. 25 hours per week
Free childcare provided during working hours
Contract: Term time only (39 weeks per year)
Pay (pro rata’d and paid evenly over 12 months):
- £12.30 per hour (ages 21 and over)
- £10.50 per hour (ages 18–20)
What We’re Looking For
• Essential:
• Experience working with children aged 4–11
• Good knowledge of age-appropriate sports and physical activities
• Awareness of children’s varying needs and stages of development
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Sound judgment, reliability, and fluency in spoken English
• Desirable:
• Experience in playwork or a sports-based setting
• Level 2 coaching qualification
• Administrative and IT competency
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Relevant training or willingness to complete (e.g. safeguarding, paediatric first aid, food hygiene)
