Summary
To support the cook and wider care home team in preparing, serving, and clearing food and beverages, ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean, hygienic, and safe in accordance with food hygiene regulations. This role supports the nutritional and dietary needs of residents in a care home environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks for residents, ensuring portion control and presentation standards are met.
Wash, peel, chop, and store food items as directed by the cook.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, food storage, and dining areas according to cleaning schedules and hygiene standards.
Operate dishwashers and manually wash utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
Check and record food temperatures and storage conditions, as instructed.
Assist in the safe storage and rotation of stock, ensuring all food is properly labelled and within date.
Follow all food safety procedures, including allergen awareness and cross-contamination prevention.
Work cooperatively with care staff to ensure resident dietary needs, preferences, and allergies are understood and supported.
Dispose of waste in line with infection control procedures.
Report any faults, damages, or concerns to the cook or manager promptly.
