Summary

DVSA is investing in the digital workforce we need to meet future challenges—building a more sustainable, skilled, and in-house capability that reduces our reliance on external contractors. As part of this work, we’ve created the Digital & Data Hub: a central team that brings together recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and governance to support the growth of a modern digital profession within the agency.

We’re now looking for a Digital Capability and Onboarding Manager to help deliver this vision. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting new starters through onboarding, coordinating recruitment campaigns and helping to embed capability-building initiatives across our digital teams.

You’ll work closely with colleagues in digital, data, HR, and commercial teams—ensuring smooth processes, tracking progress against workforce plans, and contributing to the continuous improvement of how we attract and support digital talent.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, managing multiple priorities, and making a real impact on how we grow and support our digital workforce.

If you’re passionate about helping people succeed and want to be part of a team shaping the future of digital delivery in government—we’d love to hear from you.

As a Digital Capability & Onboarding Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering small-scale digital and technology projects that enhance DVSA’s internal services. Working within the Strategy, Policy, Digital and Technology Directorate, you’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, manage delivery timelines, and ensure that new technologies and processes are implemented effectively. This role is central to building sustainable digital capability and improving user experience across the agency.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of small-scale digital projects and support larger initiatives.
  • Monitor project risks, issues, and benefits, escalating where necessary.
  • Coordinate onboarding and capability-building activities across digital teams.
  • Provide project support such as maintaining action logs, risk registers, and producing meeting outputs.
  • Support team planning, resource allocation, and performance in line with Civil Service values.
