Our Team:

We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers delivering testing capability across the broad portfolio of OPSS regulatory requirements. The team works across our testing laboratories which include metrology, mechanical, electrical, chemical, material and flammability facilities. We seek to implement fit for purpose practices and procedures to deliver robust, scientific outputs. In collaboration with other internal stakeholders including those in science, engineering, enforcement and risk, our outputs inform incident investigation, the delivery and enforcement of product regulations as well as policy development.

The Role:

We require an experienced Digital Management System Engineer/Professional to work across the Testing Laboratory and the Digital Team to provide a working solution for an electronic Quality Management System for The Laboratory. The solution will help drive compliance across laboratory operations and enable efficient decision making through built in data analytics. Working with the Quality Manager and the Digital team, you will use your experience to translate user requirements into an effective electronic management system.

You will understand why data quality and information management is essential and build in assurance and access control into the solution framework. Following change control process, you will make the documented QMS more accessible to the team and provide a user-friendly interface to facilitate its adoption.

Working across the Quality and Digital functions the role will involve the following activities.

  • Review and modify existing data repositories for our current SharePoint platform.
  • Configure the data for successful integration with the identified solution through the Digital Team.
  • Translate customer need for data analytics development.
  • Implement improvement through experience and develop the system further to positively impact Laboratory operational efficiency.

This is an exciting time to use your experience and to develop your skills across our digital and quality functions. You will work on a solution that has an immediate benefit to the Lab and help to generate a scalable electronic management system to meet laboratory growth and designed to accommodate expansion into the laboratory operation area.

The role will be based at our testing laboratories in Teddington and requires a minimum of 80% office attendance. Working arrangements will be agreed with the Laboratory Quality Manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the electronic QMS exploiting Microsoft products such as SharePoint and Excel.
  • Configure data for data analytics working with the Digital Team for integration into Microsoft products such as Dynamics and Power automate.
  • Validate solutions, and consult with laboratory staff and clients to translate requirements into system changes.
  • Establish procedures for collecting, entering and controlling data, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the data.
  • Prepare and standardise laboratory activity reports for management review and reports for clients to carry out their responsibilities in respect to compliance and enforcement of legislation.
  • Collaborate with appropriate parties to develop laboratory training manuals and deliver information systems training to laboratory staff.
