Summary
To support a friendly and lively 18-year-old man access the community and increase independence. Young man is very sociable and trusting but does not always recognise that this makes him vulnerable.
Hours: 4 hours per week. Times to be mutually agreed with PA and parents / young man. Mostly early evenings and weekends.
PA tasks: To support with shopping, budgeting, cooking, and accessing the community / independently meeting friends. Young man is also interested in voluntary and work opportunities such as Loros and volunteering as a hospital porter. Client is unable to recognise risk and keep himself safe without support. PA will build independent skills.
PA to transport client to places of interest. Therefore, a full clean driving license with business insurance is required. Mileage will be paid directly by client.
Client interests/hobbies: Likes to go for walks, live music, bowling and shopping. Likes outdoor pursuits, theme parks and all social activities.
Clients’ relevant diagnosis: Severe Autism.
PA required to work on a 1:1 basis. To assist to maximise independence and to access community social and recreational activities.
Previous care experience desired but not essential. This opportunity is suited for someone who is responsible, reliable, patient, and respectful of others’ privacy, dignity, values, and beliefs. You may be a good fit if you are looking to get back into work after caring for a relative or friend.
