Are you a dynamic and motivated Theatre Practitioner looking to take the next step in your career? Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Theatre Practitioner to join our skilled multidisciplinary team in the General and Emergency Theatres at Arrowe Park Hospital.

As a key member of our perioperative team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to patients undergoing both elective and emergency surgical procedures. Working in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment, you will demonstrate clinical leadership, expert knowledge, and the ability to support and develop junior staff.

Our theatres cover a wide range of specialities including general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, urology, and emergency surgery. The role requires a flexible approach to shift patterns, including participation in out of hours working.

Key responsibilities include:
• Clinical Leadership: Provide advanced, evidence-based perioperative care across the surgical pathway, ensuring safe and effective practices in anaesthetics, scrub, or recovery roles depending on your specialism.
• Team Support and Supervision: Act as a role model, mentor, and supervisor for junior staff and students, supporting their professional development and promoting a culture of learning and accountability.
• Emergency Preparedness: Coordinate and respond effectively to emergency cases, ensuring the multidisciplinary team is supported and all protocols are adhered to under pressure.
• Patient Safety and Quality Care: Ensure all clinical care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies, infection prevention guidelines, and safeguarding procedures, always placing patient dignity and safety at the forefront.
• Service Efficiency: Support the efficient running of theatre lists and the day-to-day coordination of activity within emergency and general theatres, liaising with the theatre coordinator and wider surgical team.
• Audit and Improvement: Contribute to clinical audits, incident reporting, and service improvements, helping to drive high standards of patient care and ensure compliance with regulatory and Trust standards.
• Resource Management: Assist in managing staffing levels, skill mix, and equipment resources, ensuring theatre readiness and safety at all times.
