Summary

St. Joseph’s Care Home – 24 Hours Per Week

P1870 – Working pattern – As per rota working every other weekend. Shifts worked between the hours of 07.00 to 9.00

Job Purpose
Ensure all cleaning carried out is of the highest possible standard by maintaining cleanliness and
hygiene, whilst ensuring a safe, comfortable environment at all times.
Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the residents' clothing and linens.
Main Tasks
DOMESTIC
a) Vacuuming, mopping floors, polishing and dusting, safely moving mobile furniture and objects
to dust behind/underneath as necessary, cleaning skirting boards and windowsills, handrails,
radiators, curtain rails, light bulbs and light fittings, etc.
b) Follow manufacturers’ instructions to operate all equipment safely.
c) Empty and wipe waste bins in all the rooms and offices.
Domestic / Laundry June 2025
d) Clean bathrooms, toilets and disinfect drains and follow the legionella protocol for
showerheads.
e) Clean dining area and kitchen, including sinks, and paint work if necessary.
f) Report any defects or potential hazard that may cause harm to a client or member of staff or
damage equipment and / or furniture, so that corrective action may be taken immediately.
f) Refill and replace consumables in bathrooms and communal areas as identified.
g) Contribute to the health & safety of the environment.
h) Undertake additional duties/tasks which may be identified in consultation with the Manager.
LAUNDRY
a) Operate washing machines and dryers to clean and dry the laundry.
b) Ensure washing instructions are followed clearly to ensure that items of laundry are returned in the
condition they were received.
c) Ensure that a system is in place for labelling resident’s clothing to ensure that the right clothing is
returned to each resident.
d) Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of laundry equipment and work areas.
e) Work in accordance with all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
f) Communicate with care home staff and residents to address any laundry related issues or
concerns.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
a) Attend mandatory training as required.
b) Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
GENERAL
a) Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
