Our assets are many, varied and vital. To achieve our goals of being a nation resilient to climate change and having healthy air, land and water, the assets we have in Water, Land and Biodiversity (WLB) must be managed effectively. This is where you come in. An Asset Management Project Manager will fulfil a challenging and busy role both desk-based and requiring site visits to our assets in the field. Working closely with other teams to deliver capital and revenue projects to ensure our assets are safe reliable and resilient for the future. You will manage your own workload, working flexibly according to the demands of the role, including:

•Managing a program of improvement works to meet the Environment Agency’s high environmental, carbon goals and Health and Safety standards.
•Managing larger scale projects from scoping to handover, across all lifecycle stages.
•Acting as the primary contact with contractors.
•Identify and liaise with key stakeholders throughout planning, delivery and review stages.
•Assessing future improvement needs and the funding required to deliver the programs and projects.
•Identifying joint opportunities across the business for delivery. Ensuring awareness of other projects in the portfolio across the business to ensure joined up delivery.
•Delivering projects to the agreed approach as set out in the EAs project guidance.
•Leading on area funding investments, procurement and supply chain management
•Financial monitoring and budget management, liaise with Environment Planning and Engagement to update on project spending.
•Managing project risks and escalating issues through area project governance structures.
The team
You will be joining the Asset Management Team based across Newcastle and Darlington Offices including home and field-based working. The team are responsible for managing WLB assets including gauging stations, fish passes, boreholes, rainguages. These assets provide data for water resources and flood risk purposes. you will also work with colleagues involved in asset management across multiple WLB teams (Area and National) as we journey towards integrated asset management.
Experience/skills required
•Be an experienced project manager with at least 2 years’ experience leading project delivery
•Have experience of working with multiple internal/external project partners/customers to deliver key projects/work packages
•Have experience managing project budgets
•Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and respond to unforeseen challenges
•Have strong teamworking, communication and influencing skills
•Be able to build good working relationships and work collaboratively with external partners to develop and achieve agreed objectives
•Be keen to improve the way we work and develop yourself/others

Experience in some of the following would be beneficial:

•Procuring and managing contractors/suppliers
•Developing and reviewing business cases
•Risks and issues management
•Benefits management
•Finance and budget management
•Having completed relevant project management training/qualifications would be advantageous, although not essential.

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided. As part of your induction, you'll be provided with the equipment required for your role.
