JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CARE STAFF
TITLE : Head Cook
RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager
HOURS OF WORK & SHIFTS: 40 Hours 8am-5pm
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential valid Food and Hygiene Certificate before working in the kitchen.
Must also work towards the following training in-house as well as valid certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace, Infection Control, Hand Hygiene, COSHH, POVA. It will also be a requirement to have an understanding in Dementia.
Diploma in cooking or catering or willing to work towards getting one
PHILOSOPHY:
To provide a friendly, homely atmosphere in which clients can live as normal a life as possible within the limitations imposed by disability or illness. To be interested in the total care of elderly clients and understand their individual needs. To maintain high standards of cleanliness within the Home taking into account the needs and wishes of the residents.
To undertake planning, preparation and cooking of meals.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To work in line with legislation, in-house policies and procedures.
• To work in line with Safe Food and Better Business and fill in the required documentation.
• To offer as much choice as possible within the clients’ capabilities
• Ensure that you cater for a varied diet, offer an alternative daily.
• To communicate in an appropriate and professional way to everyone that enters the Home.
• To attend regular supervisions and identify and report any staff developments needed for yourself.
• Stock rotate, keep kitchen clean at all times.
• Do the ordering of stock
• Support and supervise kitchen assistants
