Summary
Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location: Bow Street area
Hours: 8-10 hours per week socialisation support
Work Pattern: 8 hours Saturday’s during school term
10 hours Saturdays or weekdays school holidays
Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour
Introduction:
I am seeking a Personal Assistant for 8 hours a week during school term,10 hours during school holidays to support my son to access and enjoy different social events independently of his family. He could also benefit from some help in initiating and maintaining social relationships while attending clubs and activities with his peers. My son is very cheerful and friendly, always joking and engaging in conversations. He does struggle to express his emotions sometimes and will need a little prompting to say what is bothering him, instructions and general conversation also needs to be somewhat basic. He enjoys swimming, loves trains real and model. He requires a trusted adult who can support him in engaging in teenage activities such as scouts, swimming, bike riding, shopping, taking public transport, going to the arcades etc. This post is funded through Ceredigion County Council’s Direct Payments scheme. Mandatory on-line PA training is provided to assist you in the PA role. You can be paid for this time.
Main duties:
• To pick my son up from home transport to attend scouts and return home
• To support initiate relationships with peers, practice ‘script’ to greet people.
• Introduce to new experiences and interests – e.g. catching the bus or train
• To build and maintain a trusting relationship
• To ensure the health and safety of my son at all times
Person Specification:
• Reliable
• Kind
• Reassuring
• Good general knowledge
• Able to maintain confidentiality and to be aware of privacy
• Able to develop and to maintain a supportive relationship
• Good communication and inter-personal skills
• Experience of supporting young people an advantage
• Experience or knowledge of Autism desirable
• Full driving license and use of own vehicle. You need to have appropriate insurance for using your vehicle in conjunction with work.

Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
