We’re hiring an experienced HGV Mechanic, also known as an HGV Technician, Truck Fitter, LGV Technician or Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, to join a busy and well-equipped workshop in Worksop. This night shift role offers excellent long-term prospects, technical training, and the chance to work with a leading commercial vehicle organisation.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Mechanic

Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGVs and trailers
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
Complete MOT preparation work and ensure roadworthiness of all vehicles
Attend breakdowns and on-site repairs where needed
Work closely with the parts team for timely repairs
Complete job cards and compliance documentation accurately
Ensure all work is carried out safely in line with workshop health and safety procedures
Maintain a tidy, professional, and efficient work area

Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Mechanic

Essential

NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician or Truck Fitter
Full UK Driving Licence
Ability to work independently and efficiently on night shifts
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

Desirable

HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
ADR licence
Main dealer or fleet maintenance experience
