Summary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for anenthusiastic,friendlyand patient-focusedPharmacy Technicianto join The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Integrated Care Clinical Pharmacy team based at Marie Curie Hospice Newcastle.
Within thisrewardingrole, youwill work alongside adispensing assistantand pharmacist,as well asbeing part of alargermultidisciplinary team(e.g.nurses,prescribersand administrators). Youwillplay a vitalpartinsupporting thepharmacyteam to deliveran excellentserviceandensuringourhospice inpatientshave the medicationthatthey needduring theirstay.The role will be varied, covering multiple aspects of themedicinesmanagement process.

The pharmacy technician will support the role of the pharmacistand dispensing assistantto deliveraclinicalpharmacyservice for Marie Curie Hospice. The main duties of this role will include:
1. Workingcollaboratively with the inpatient multidisciplinary team.
1. Undertakingaccuratemedication histories.
1. Counselling patientsand/ortheir carer(s) on medication use.
1. Problem-solving medication-relatedissues and queries.
1. Procuring medication direct frompharmaceuticalwholesalers.
1. Transcribing FP10 prescriptions using the electronic prescribing system,to support the ordering of medication for use during a patient’s hospice admission and for discharge.
1. Supporting all aspects of medicines management within the hospice.
1. Liaisingwithinternal and external healthcare professionals.
1. Involvement inservice developments to improve patient care and/or efficiency.
Key requirements:
The successful candidate will have excellent communication andteam workingskills. They will be self-motivated andeagerto use their skills to deliver the highest standard of care forpatientsadmitted to the hospice.

• Northern Genetics Service

• To practice as an experienced pharmacy technician.
• To practice as a registered pharmacy technician.
• To provide a clinical service to identified patients
• In hospice or Trust settings including reducing risk associated with the admission and discharge process.
• To undertake a broad range of technical pharmaceutical activities including providing advice to patients and other healthcare staff.
