Summary

The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: a. Review all incoming correspondence filing the document and entering pertinent information into the patients electronic medical recording in accordance with the Coding Protocol and with attention to QOF b. Accurately clinical-coding data on System One into the patient record c. Organise the medical record of patient whom you are coding, to link problem titles d. Input and extract data as required to support practice reports e. Organise the medical records of a patient whom you are coding for to link problem titles. f. File and store records as required g. Photocopy documentation as required h. Action all incoming faxes, emails and mail in a timely manner i. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records j. Carry out system searches as requested k. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times l. Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested In addition to the primary responsibilities, the clinical coder may be requested to: a. Review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Deputy Practice Manager) b. Partake in audit as directed by the audit lead c. Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absences where appropriate
