Summary

We are looking for an experienced Business Manager to lead the operational and strategic direction of our busy and friendly GP surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and progressive practice committed to delivering high-quality care to our local community. About the Practice: We are a well-established NHS GP practice across two sites, serving a patient population of approximately 18000 patients, in the centre of the thriving market town of Hitchin. Our team includes GPs, ANPs, nurses, HCAs, clinical pharmacists and administrative staff working collaboratively to provide excellent patient-centred care. The Role: As our Business Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the practice, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality services. Working closely with the GP Partners and the leadership team. Your role will span strategic planning, finance, compliance, HR, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and support to the GP Partners. Oversee business and financial management including budgets, payroll, income streams (QOF, PCN, enhanced services), and cost control. Liaise with accountants, signs off invoices and purchases. Lead on CQC compliance, information governance, clinical governance, and contractual obligations. Oversee HR functions: recruitment, induction, appraisals, and staff development. Ensure efficient use of practice IT and digital systems (eg SystmOne/Accurx and telephony services) Leads digital innovation, AI tool integration and IT strategy. Oversee information governance, GDPR, cybersecurity plans. Lead on change management and business development initiatives eg digital transformation, new income streams Represent the practice in PCN, ICB, wider NHS forums.
