Summary
We are looking for a team player who is able to assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. They will ideally have experience within chronic disease management, COPD and Asthma. Experience in diabetes would be advantageous. The applicant must be self-motivated and adaptable to work within a changing NHS and to thrive with the demand of working in a busy GP practice. Main duties and tasks may include but are not limited to: - Cervical smears - Chronic Disease Management - COPD/Asthma - Removal of sutures - Urinalysis - Peak flow readings - Venepuncture - Blood pressure measurements - Ear Care - Routine childhood and adult immunisations - Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs - Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate - Administration of Depo injections, Zoladex, B12 - Contraception Pill reviews - Leading Infection Control - Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs - Maintaining nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required - Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician (when required) - Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms - Ordering of stock - Participation in administrative systems in the practice including QOF/IIF/ PDA - At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records - A duty to advise GPs of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks - Attend and participate in our monthly governance meetings when required. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nurse care and to keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post. It is essential that they have the experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, working within a Primary Care Environment and experience of EMIS.
