Summary
Cathays High School is seeking a member of staff to join our highly successful Inclusion and Wellbeing Team in a multicultural high school, close to Cardiff city centre.
The Inclusion and Wellbeing Leaders work closely with our Head of Year and Safeguarding team to enable all learners to attend school, feel safe and happy and make excellent progress. The key focus of the role is on improving attendance, punctuality, positive engagement around the school and making referrals to support pupil wellbeing and mental health. Daily tasks will include first aid, phone calls home, family meetings, home visits, yard duties, staffing the on-call phone lines, engagement walks, restorative meetings and admin tasks in support of the Head of Year.
Cathays High School is an inclusive and restorative school. The person appointed must be able to communicate well and build positive relationships with young people, their families and external agencies to ensure positive outcomes and ensure all pupils display our school values of being prepared, showing respect and having pride.
Safeguarding is paramount and the Inclusion and Wellbeing Leaders work closely with our Designated Safeguarding Person(DSP) to support our most vulnerable learners. Inclusion and wellbeing contribute to safeguarding our most vulnerable learners in their day-to-day duties but also by attending child protection conferences, core groups, care and support plan meetings and children who are looked after reviews on behalf of the DSP.
Cathays High School has very strong systems for the professional development and support of all staff and especially those new to the profession. We also have an excellent record of helping ambitious and hard-working staff to make rapid career progression within our community.
The school expects all staff to participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality and Opportunities for All as laid down in the school’s policy. We also expect all staff to follow our core behaviours of ‘Collaboration, Ownership and Team First ’.
