We are pleased to announce the commencement of recruitment for the 2023 Royal College of Surgeons of England Senior Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Colorectal Surgery. Opportunities for the fellow include:
• Comprehensive operative experience of paediatric and neonatal colorectal surgery including reconstructive surgery for anorectal malformations, definitive surgery for Hirschsprung’s disease and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease
• Running a weekly network colorectal MDT and quarterly colorectal transition MDT
• Running a monthly fellow’s clinic for complex paediatric colorectal disease
• Participating in the non-resident consultant oncall rota (with appropriate support)
• Gaining experience in young adult colorectal surgery (including restorative surgery for IBD) with the adult colorectal team at Chelsea & Westminster and at theinternationally renowned St Mark’s Hospital & Academic Institute
• Undertaking the Advanced Training Program in Paediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction at the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction at Nationwide Children’s Hospital USA
• Participating in the simulation research programme at Imperial College

The main duties of this role are:
• To support the inpatient surgical management of paediatric colorectal elective and emergency workload participating in the operative management of all colorectal cases. Maintain colorectal databases on Hirschsprung’s, anorectal malformations cohorts. Initiate a retrospective and prospective database for inflammatory bowel disease cohorts.
• To work with the paediatric and adult colorectal surgeons, clinical nurse specialists and gastroenterological teams in the region (North-West London integrated care system) to help develop a formal links with network hospitals with a particular focus on transitional care
• To maintain a weekly multi-disciplinary team Lower GI meeting involving gastroenterology, paediatric and adult surgeons.
• To maintain a quarterly multi-disciplinary team transition meetings involving tele remote clinics with participating network hospitals in the North-West London integrated care system (ICS)
• Monthly dedicated colorectal fellow clinic duties, including administration. Weekly outpatient clinic duties assisting colorectal surgeons.
• Develop the anorectal manometry adjunct, creating pathways and protocols for outpatient and in-theatre manometry investigations.
• Deliver an improvement project e.g. day case pathway for anorectal manometry, capital funding for endoanal ultrasound.
• On call commitment in line with European working time directive
• Teaching Trainees/Nurses and Imperial College Medical Students
