Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant Vacancy, Littlehampton: Make a Real Difference!

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking for a truly rewarding role? Do you have experience supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? We are excited to be recruiting for an enthusiastic and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Littlehampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for boys in Years 4-11 (aged 8 to 16) who experience social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Your work will directly contribute to helping these young individuals grow into responsible, confident, and well-adjusted members of our school community and beyond.

What the Role Involves

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be integral to the daily lives and progress of our pupils. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, tailoring your approach to meet individual learning styles and needs.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a calm and predictable learning environment where pupils feel safe to express themselves and learn.
  • Support pupils in developing their social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and contribute to pupil progress reports.
  • Encourage positive relationships among peers and with staff.
  • Celebrate successes and help build pupils' self-esteem and confidence.
What We're Looking For

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 6 months' hands-on SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) experience. This is crucial, as you'll be working with pupils who require a sensitive and informed approach to their specific challenges.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people and a deep understanding of the complexities associated with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Exceptional patience, resilience, and a consistently positive and calm demeanour, even in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with pupils, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and communicate professionally with parents/carers where appropriate.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, ready to respond to the evolving needs of our pupils.
Why Join Our Team?

We offer more than just a job; we offer a chance to be part of a supportive and impactful community:

  • Rewarding Work: Every day presents an opportunity to make a tangible difference in a young person's life. Seeing our pupils grow and achieve is incredibly fulfilling.
  • Term-Time Only: Enjoy your school holidays! This role operates on a term-time only basis, offering a fantastic work-life balance.
  • Convenient Location: Our school is located in Littlehampton, making it easily accessible via public transport from surrounding areas.
  • Supportive Environment: You'll be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to collaborative working and mutual support. We believe in continuous professional development and fostering a positive working atmosphere.
  • Contribution to Growth: You'll be at the heart of an environment where pupils are not just educated but are also guided to develop essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and a sense of responsibility.

If you are a dedicated individual with a true commitment to helping young people reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you.

This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a school that truly makes a difference in children's lives.
