Summary
Are you friendly, fun, and up for an incredibly rewarding role? Then we’d love to hear from you!
Charlie is an 18 year old, charming, funny, bright, and full of personality. He’s preparing to start an exciting new chapter at Edinburgh College (Sighthill Campus) at the end of August, and we’re putting together a team to support him along the way.
We’re currently looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) and a Driver, and we’re also on the lookout for fab people to support social activities outside of college. Whether you’re interested in one role or a mix of them – get in touch!
College Support PA – 3 Days a Week (Days TBC), 9am–4pm
38 weeks of the year (term time)
Charlie doesn’t need help with learning – the college has that covered – but he’d love someone to support him with:
• Meeting him from transport and helping get organised for the day
• Navigating college and getting to class
• Support at breaks and lunchtimes and encouraging his independence.
• Possibly attending the on-site gym together
This is a relaxed, person-centred role perfect for someone who is friendly, organised, and enthusiastic.
College Driver – 3 Days a Week
We’re also looking for a reliable driver to take Charlie to and from North Berwick to Sighthill Campus, three days per week. You’d be driving Charlie’s motobility van, and insurance will be sorted for you. Because of the age restrictions of the motobility scheme, the driver must be aged 25 or over. This is a genuine occupational requirement.
Social Support – Flexible Hours (up to 12 hours per week but could be more)
Outside of college, Charlie lives life to the full – and is looking for flexible, fun support to keep up with his interests, including:
• Hitting the gym in North Berwick 3 times a week
• Swimming, cinema trips, and meals out
• Playing and attending ParaDarts events once a month.
• Travelling to Manchester to see his beloved Man City! (3–4 times a season – with support to drive, enjoy the match, and possibly stay overnight)
Charlie uses a walking frame and a wheelchair and is looking for a team of open-minded, positive people who get him, people who enjoy football, love a laugh, and believe in helping young people live their best lives.
If you’re warm, reliable, have a good sense of humour, and are passionate about inclusion and helping young people live an independent life, this could be the perfect role for you. There may be small elements of personal care required.
Whether you’re interested in just one part of this package or fancy getting involved more fully – we’re flexible and open to creating the right team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference and have some fun along the way. Must be willing to join the PVG scheme. Rate of pay £12.60 per hour.
Please get in touch if you’re interested – we’d love to chat!
