What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Lead criteria - Extensive experience in a range of package implementations in a large-scale organisation, clearly demonstrating depth and understanding of complex requirements and how the packaged solution is designed, configured and tested to meet those requirements.
- Proven track record in gathering a range of information from different sources and stakeholders to ensure effective decision making, clearly demonstrating a balanced approach to conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong working knowledge and experience in reviewing existing services and external industry trends to identify areas of improvement and formulating plans to deliver enhancements to enable the management of a quality service.
- Detailed working knowledge and a deep understanding of the design, implementation and operation of shared service payment and accounting solutions based on packaged solutions.
- Significant experience and a deep understanding of large-scale payment journeys, payment processing, related accounting processes and use of packaged solutions to deliver payment, accounting and reconciliation functionality.
You and your role
We're looking for a Senior Technical Lead to help shape and deliver key digital services at DWP.
You'll lead technical teams, guide product development, and make sure everything aligns with our wider strategy.
Using your deep experience in payments, accounting, and financial systems, especially around package implementation and integration, you'll play a big role in shaping our tech direction.
You will work across cloud and on-prem environments, support critical digital services and advise senior stakeholders on the best way forward. If you're passionate about using tech to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Manchester or Newcastle, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £89,995.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £21,000 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
