Are you ready to play a vital role in helping North Lanarkshire prepare for and respond to emergencies?

We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive Resilience Planning Officer to join our small but dynamic team. Based within the Resilience Planning Unit, you’ll help lead the Council’s efforts to meet its statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, the Contingency Planning (Scotland) Regulations 2005, and other key legislation, including the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the Resilience Planning manager to develop and maintain emergency response and business continuity plans
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on resilience matters across the Council
  • Support the Council’s response to emergencies, including public communications and coordination with partner agencies
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of training, exercising, and multi-agency planning
  • Help build resilience within our communities and local businesses
  • Audit, test, and improve the Council’s Business Continuity Plans to ensure essential services are prepared to continue operations during disruption
  • Represent North Lanarkshire Council in the Lanarkshire Resilience Partnership and the West of Scotland Regional Resilience Partnership.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in a resilience planning environment
  • A solid understanding of business continuity planning
  • Desirable experience in risk management

The successful candidate will be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby service (including public holidays).

A current driving licence is essential.

This is a hybrid role, with your main place of work being both your home and the Bellshill Transport Depot, Station House, 950 Old Edinburgh Road Bellshill, ML4 3JG
